Purpose of the Test

X-Ray of the big toe is usually done to evaluate for any injuries or abnormalities in the toe bone or joint. Some of the common reasons for getting this test include: Trauma or injury to the toe, Pain, swelling or stiffness in the toe, Arthritis in the big toe joint, Presence of bone spurs or other bony growths in the toe.

What the Test Detects

The X-Ray image of the big toe is used to evaluate the bone structure and joint alignment, as well as any signs of damage or disease. The results are usually used to help diagnose the underlying condition and plan for any necessary treatment.

Preparation for the Test

During the test, the patient will be asked to place their foot on the X-Ray table and hold it still while the technician takes the image. The test is usually quick and painless, taking only a few minutes.

Sample Requirements
