Purpose of the Test

Serum conjugated bilirubin test is ordered to evaluate the liver function and diagnose the cause of jaundice. It is also used to differentiate between types of jaundice, to monitor liver function in people with liver disease or other conditions that may affect liver function.

It is requested when a person shows symptoms of liver disease, jaundice, or other conditions that may affect liver function.

What the Test Detects

This test measures the level of conjugated bilirubin in the blood. Conjugated bilirubin is a form of bilirubin that has been processed by the liver and is able to be excreted from the body in bile.
