Purpose of the Test

Bone marrow slide and block review with history is done to evaluate the cells present in the bone marrow for any abnormalities or diseases. The test helps in the diagnosis and management of various blood disorders and cancers.

When this test is required

The test is usually ordered by a hematologist or an oncologist when a patient has signs and symptoms of a blood disorder or cancer such as anemia, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, fever, bone pain, abnormal blood counts, or unexplained bleeding or bruising.
